The Smart Brick connects to your home network. 2.4 GHz. It joins your network, receives an IP address, and sits there. Confirmed connected. Doing nothing. But connected.

Does it do anything?
Define "anything." It connects to WiFi. The chip establishes a network handshake, receives a DHCP-assigned IP address, and maintains that connection indefinitely. Whether this constitutes "doing something" is, at its core, a philosophical question we feel the market is not yet ready to resolve.
Why does a brick need WiFi?
The same reason your refrigerator, your doorbell, and your thermostat need WiFi. The future is connected. The Smart Brick is the honest version of that future: something on your network with no data to send and nothing to receive. It is the most honest smart home device we have ever made, which is also the only smart home device we have ever made.
What does Brick Cloud store?
Brick Cloud securely stores your brick's connection status: connected, or not connected. Currently, all bricks are connected. We store this. The cloud infrastructure required to store this information is, we acknowledge, somewhat disproportionate to the information being stored. We are at peace with this.
When is the app coming?
Q3 2027. We want to be upfront that the app has been in development since Q1 2024. Progress is being made. The app will allow you to view your brick's connection status from your phone, which Brick Cloud already does via the web interface, but from your phone specifically. The team is committed.
What is the difference between the Smart Brick and the Brick Pro?
The Brick Pro is heavier. The WiFi chip, connectivity behavior, and material composition are identical to the standard Smart Brick. The Brick Pro weighs approximately 18% more due to a denser clay formulation. Some customers have reported that the Brick Pro simply feels more serious. We cannot dispute this.
Can I use it as a regular brick?
Structurally, yes. The WiFi chip does not compromise the brick's load-bearing capacity. It is a standard modular brick by all material standards. However, embedding a WiFi chip in mortar may void the Brick Cloud subscription, and Definitely Real Products Inc. is not liable for connectivity loss resulting from the brick being used as intended by pre-chip-era architects.
Is there a Smart Brick 2?
No. The Smart Brick is a forever product. We do not plan to release an updated model. Bricks do not iterate. If we do release a Smart Brick 2, it will be the same brick. We will call it the Smart Brick 2 for commercial reasons. The brick itself will be unchanged.
What is the return policy?
Smart Brick may be returned within 30 days provided it is in its original condition and has been disconnected from your network. Please note that once a Smart Brick is disconnected, Brick Cloud will log a "disconnection event," which we consider a minor tragedy but will not charge you for.
